When the businesses dotting Park Central Mall lock their doors tight when the workday’s done, the party’s just getting started at Kobalt. Owners Bryon Wiley and Robert Mancuso keep things going and the liquor flowing at their popular blue-themed gay lounge, one the ritziest in the Valley, until the dreaded last call arrives to spoil the fun. There’s a voluminous amount of intoxicants to choose from until the staff flips the killjoy switch, however, such as 23 different beers and an army of premium spirits eager to invade the invade the liver or get mixed into any of Kobalt’s 26 fabulous and flamboyant signature specialty martinis. Most are of a sweet variety, including those mimicking Strawberry Yoo-Hoo or Black Forest cake, while a handful brandish monikers of the employee (like the Drewberry or Va-Gina) that dreamt ‘em up. Fresh-popped popcorn is usually available to go along with all the alcoholic, but only if the bartenders can pull themselves away from cocktail conjuring long enough to make a batch.
