Description

King's Inn is four hours south of Houston overlooking Baffin Bay at the end of highway 628 near Riviera. Many Texans plan car trips between Houston and the Valley around lunch or dinner there. Fried shrimp is the restaurant's signature dish, but grilled black drum, crunchy onion rings, and the unusual "tartar sauce" are popular. Also of interest is the old-fashioned Bombay salad, a cold pool of creamy curried avocado puree in a cup-shaped wedge of iceberg with sliced tomatoes along the side and a pickled pepper on top. Don't forget to ask for an extra pint of tartar sauce to go when you pay your check at the register.
