Description

Named after the beloved mother of the founder of Mouridism (a West African form of Sufism), Keur Mame Diarra serves mainly Senegalese tribal fare at lunch, and a Sub-Saharan spin on French cuisine in the evening. The former includes cheb, an over-rice dish of fish and vegetables; and a red-tinted vegetable stew called cu diwitr. The evening meal features grilled lamb ("dibbie") and roasted guinea hen ("pintade"), served with rice and an onion-mustard relish. Don't be deterred by the winking, fat pizza guy who stands guard at the door; you may have to buzz to get in.
