Tucked away in Battery Park City, this Japanese spot serves up sushi right on the water. While seats on the patio provide the best view, the interior has a similarly breezy feel with windows letting in plenty of light onto a dining room filled with modern white chairs, white leather banquettes and clean white walls. Chefs in crisp white outfits work behind the wooden sushi bar, preparing classic nigiri, sashimi and sushi rolls. Some of the more inventive combinations include the Battery Park (eel, avocado, fish tempura) and Rose (shrimp tempura and lobster salad) rolls. The menu also features casual Japanese fare like tempura, udon and soba noodles, hot ramen topped with pork, teriyaki and a variety of hibachi dishes. During lunch hours, you can get a bento box with a main dish, miso soup, vegetable tempura, a California roll, shumai and rice for $11, while various omakase menus are available for market price during dinner.—Keith Wagstaff
