Though not really a sit-down dining experience, K. L. Malaysia Beef Jerky makes its mark by offering jerky that has little in common with what’s normally called jerky in America. The jerkies– called Bak Kwa, a typically Chinese-style of preparing meat that can sometimes taste more like candy than jerky– are spicy and sweet, rather than salty, and can be ordered in bulk—and even shipped across the country. It’s worth going in and placing an order in person at the Little Italy shop, though, as the jubilant staff ladies cooks up the jerky right there in store, within view of the customers, and are willing to vacuum pack it so you can take it away and keep for as long as you can resist eating it. --Shane Barnes
