Cozy, slightly eccentric, semicountrified breakfast and lunch place with a vast array of breakfast choices (available as long as the restaurant is open), somewhat fewer for lunch but covering the basics of sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Crab cakes and grits remind you that the owner hails from Louisiana; the kitchen's own baked goods (scones, pies, cookies, and several kinds of bread) remind you that "bakery" is part of the name.

    When I lived in Potrero Hill I used to eat at the original 12 seater. The owner is a tough nut and threw me out at the first seating for talking on my cell. By the third try I finally got to eat - and it was worth the wait. Outstanding food, excellent bignettes.
