The food is Southern, and it's made the old-fashioned way. Every meal is piled-high, fried, and heavy. Expect gargantuan proportions - the drumsticks are straight outta the Flintstones, and the drinks are served in buckets. The chessboard tiles could use a buffing, but this seven-booth, nine-table space with a wraparound lunch counter has stood at U.S. 441 and NW 75th Street since 1955. There was a time long ago, during segregation, when blacks weren't even allowed in. But Bobby Flam, son of the founder, who has been running the joint since 1967, says, "It's more than just a business, man - it's a part of the community."
