Pizza royalty Patsy Grimaldi returns to Brooklyn’s pizza scene at the age of 81 with Juliana’s. It might sound late for a comeback, but this pie legend’s still got it. The pizza at Juliana’s is excellent, perfectly round, and crisped in the parlor’s coal-burning oven. In an old-timer move, Grimaldi puts the sauce on top of the mozzarella (often made fresh by his wife Carol Grimaldi) which helps it stay milk white and maintain its flavor. The parlor has plenty of tables packed together and waits for a seat tend to be short. A jukebox plays Sinatra all day long, which suits the crowd--big Italian-American families with small kids, teenage couples dipping soda from straws, and couples sharing a few slices after work.
