Description

A paradise for crusties, gutter kids, and other members of the pierced-and-tattooed set, this East Phoenix rock dive is a bit rough around the edges in just the right way. The spirit of its late owner Sid Copeland (who sadly passed away in 2006) lives on as Jugheads has become a monument to all things punk. The jukebox's also packed with such three-chord legends as the Sex Pistols and Bad Brains, and any number of local and national acts have played here, including Agent Orange, Family Secret, and NunZilla.

The late Sid Copeland was reportedly a helluva guy. The former owner of this east Phoenix punk institution, who sadly passed away in 2006, had a reputation of being easygoing and generous. He was a much-beloved figure in the local scene, providing his customers with a shoulder to lean on in times of woe or making sure every musician who played got paid (even if it was only $5). Dubbing itself "Arizona's Underground Hip-Hop Movement," Southwest RapStock is the brainchild of Sassy, a west-side promoter and vice president of local label Topp Notch Records.
