A Midland-Odessa transplant founded by Jorge Veloz Sr., this One Arts Plaza outpost was opened in 2008 by Veloz and family. The overall ambiance is one typical of Tex-Mex eateries the world over. However, its proximity to Dallas performing arts institutions gives it a more sophisticated sheen for the event-night crowd. Suits and evening wear slum it with platters of enchiladas swimming in chile con carne with rice and refried beans or the selections from one of two three-course prix-fixe "Show Menus" -- Con Prisa (in a hurry) or Con Tiempo (with time). The beef, pork and chicken in any of the house specialties (served with your choice of beans), like Super Burro, a "Tex-Mex sized burrito" and the West Tex-Mex Ribs. At other times, the tables are filled with workers and museum visitors who start each meal with chile con queso.
