Description

Basic, classic breakfast dishes aren't difficult to come by at the relocated Greenville Avenue landmark. In business for more than 33 years, John's knows how to break an egg or two. Plus, syrup isn't even required for pancakes or the powdered-sugary, cinnamon-y French toast-yeah, they're that good. John's also handles the lunch crowd with standard sandwiches such as BLT, grilled cheese and roast beef, plate lunch dailies and a few Greek noshes that nod to owner John Spyropolous' heritage. John's is a no-frills joint, but when you're starving, there's nothing wrong with a super-short wait and a simple presentation.

Breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day. And at John's Cafe, it's goooood. John's also serves up super cheapo lunches, but their breakfast is so otherworldly and giant, you'll be so full of egg and coffee and awesome that when noon... More »

By the time New Year's Eve 2005 rolls through Lower Greenville Avenue, the institution known as John's Café will be gone. After 33 years. Why does this matter? It's the food. John's packs them in--from lawyers and local musicians to the... More »

  • 2007 | Best Back-From-the-Dead Burger

For a third of a century John's Café on Greenville Avenue was one of those chipped mug of coffee places you could go on a Sunday morning and get your feet planted squarely back on planet Earth for the week to come. Then two years ago they deep-sixed it for a bank. Story of our life. But now John's is back from the grave, this time deeper on Greenville, almost at the corner of Ross, and many of the old familiar faces are gathering again for coffee, Greek salad and one of the best big...
