Opened in 2006 in an understated strip mall a few blocks from Pearl Street by a duo of industry vets, Jimmy & Drew's has managed to earn national accolades for its sandwiches. Signature offerings include the delectable Jimmy's Favorite (a Reuben sandwiched between two potato latkes), but the menu also features such standards as chopped liver, tongue and whitefish. This is the place where tofu-suffocated Boulderites go when they need a breath of fresh, pastrami-scented air.

An Esquire piece on the country's best sandwiches pointed me towards this gem that was right under my nose. The featured favorite: Jimmy's favorite- a rueben with latkes instead of rye bread. I was kicking myself for not coming to Jimmy and Drews sooner. The food is kinda Chicago/Jewish, just like Bubbe used to make.
