Description

Some locals cite the bars on the windows and the chipped-paint exterior of Jalisco as reasons they put off stopping in, but once they walk inside, everything changes. The warm yellow of the walls makes a comfy setting. Regulars slide into well-worn booths while loners take their seats at the bar. Mexican soft drinks and desserts are displayed in a colorful and enticing lineup near the door, and the waitstaff greets you with house chicken and rice soup and warm chips and salsa before you even sit down. The colorful and whimsical menu is loaded with mainly Mexican staples like chile rellenos and chimichangas, but some have a creative Mexo-American twist -- like a Mexican tuna melt and El Paso pizza. Daily specials can be had for $5. Whatever you get, top it off with flan.

The lunch specials are cheap and delicious. Be prepared to leave full, even after a lunch special. Between the chips and salsa, soup and main course, you are sure to enjoy this great little treasure in Fort Lauderdale. GREAT AND FRIENDLY SERVICE!

The second salsa is earthier in color, with visible jalapeno slices and seeds scattered within. It has a curious... More »
