Circumstances and proximity may have given Hoyt's a subtle role shift from suit-and-tie after-work haunt to gameday destination for the Target Field crowd. But this bar and steakhouse has maintained its supper-club charm through more than five decades of Washington Avenue's shifting roles, keeping its focus on a friendly, old-school classy dinner atmosphere and a generous happy hour. There are easily visible flatscreens if you absolutely have to watch the game, but decor-wise, Hoyt's is all about tradition.

It really doesn't get much better than this: the food is great, the service is exceptional, really nice atmosphere and all at a reasonable price! A must if you're ever in Minneapolis!
The super-size era nearly ruined the Bloody Mary, the most quixotic of all the classic drinks. Bars and restaurants were suddenly compelled to serve happy meals--rife with pickles, olives, celery stalks, baby shrimp, even beef jerky--in a glass. The booze, alas, became an afterthought.
