Description

The new J.C. Fandango boasts a festive Latin motif complete with marble floors, palm trees and top-notch musical acts. All these qualities combine to convey a distinct Miami vibe. Salsa seems to be the flavor of choice at this establishment, but don't worry if you haven't got any official training. Lessons are held every evening from Thursday through Sunday, so you can have a chance to loosen those hips before the weekend. Averaging around $7 a cocktail, the drinks leave a little to be desired, but if you're there to dance, you'll be hard pressed to find a better place.

Mexico City, early 1990s. DJs Toy Hernández, Pato Chapa and Fermín IV of hip-hop trio Control Machete enter a grimy garage lugging a beat box, a turntable and some mikes. They're the only hip-hop act on a slate of punkeros and rockeros. When... More »
