This south Minneapolis standby just keeps getting better year after year. Remember when the Greek salad was all iceberg lettuce and the dining room was a single, plain expanse? Nowadays there are murals and multiple dining rooms; grown-ups can feast on fried smelt or octopus while kids rave over the chicken gyros and flaming cheese; and the Greek wine selection is better than what you'll find in many an Athenian taverna.
I just stuck with a gyro, but it was delicious and filling non the less. I went there to meet with some friends, and we had reservations but for the time and day we went they weren't necessary. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the prices weren't bad for a restaurant in Uptown.

Set some olives and a... More »

Gardens is the cheapest of the three: A complete meal for two, including wine, shouldn't run more than $25. Gardens also has the coziest atmosphere--the summery interior décor and nice people are a big plus--but it's small and tends to get crowded most evenings. Christos, the genteel... More »
