  • 2011 | Best Venue for Live Comedy

Reportedly, the Irvine Improv gets better acts than its counterpart in Brea. So, you say sterile wasteland? We say blank canvas. The beauty of the Irvine Improv is that, given the paucity of things to do outside the Irvine Spectrum (where the... More >

  • 2010 | Best Venue for Live Comedy

A priest, a rabbi and Jack Nicholson walk into a soulless retail-and-entertainment farm next to the 405 freeway in Irvine, and they stumble into a happening comedy club. "Hey, what's an Improv doing in the middle of this soulless... More >

  • Kevin Nealon

By Joe Lapin | Thu, January 26, 2012

You know that song that goes, “If you like Piña Coladas?” Well, it turns out that Rupert Holmes—the guy who wrote it—doesn’t actually like piña coladas. Crazy, right? And in a weird way, Weeds' Kevin Nealon, who plays the loveable stoner that does... More >

  • Charlie Murphy

By CHRIS ZIEGLER | Thu, January 05, 2012

Charlie Murphy the comedian? He’s great, but what about Charlie Murphy the documentarian? The guy who did gangs, jail and the US Navy before toppling into Hollywood when his legendary brother Eddie needed security (in a couple senses, probably). E... More >

  • Eric Schwartz AKA Smooth-E

By AMANDA PARSONS | Thu, December 15, 2011

There aren’t too many people in the world that can truly multitask. (Well, aside from women, of course, because women can do anything.) But Eric Schwartz aka Smooth-E multitasks like a mo-fo as a comedian, sketch player, MC, actor, writer, produce... More >

  • Criag Robinson

By ERIN DEWITT | Thu, November 24, 2011

Here's a fun fact: before Craig Robinson played roles big and small in just about every comedy since 2005, he taught music at an elementary school in Chicago. There's our favorite, the almost-lovable murderous hitman in Pineapple Express; the adul... More >

Good Evening Friends, I'd like to take the opportunity to extend an invitation to each of you for my appearance at the Improv in Irvine on Tuesday evening November 23rd at 8 pm. I will be the headliner and performing a one-hour show with the very funny Zoltan opening for me. I'll be raising money for the all-volunteer United Services Organization (USO) who provide a touch of home to our service members during the holidays and throughout the year. Only two days following the show, hundreds of men and women in uniform will pass through the Bob Hope Hollywood USO and be treated to a Thanksgiving meal as they travel away from home in support of our freedom. I encourage you to pass the word, invite your friends, and come out and enjoy the evening not only for a worthy cause, but because we all need to have some laughs. Tickets are only $15 and can be purchased from the Improv website at the following link: http://www.improv.com/ComedyClub/Irvine/Index I'd love to see you there! Sincerely, Mike

They have some good comedians each month. I go there every couple of months for a good laugh.

The Improv is great because you can see big name comics in an intimate setting to up and coming comics during their amateur nights. The amateur nights are great because you never know what big names might just pop up and do a set. Nestled right in the Irvine Spectrum you can always get drinks/food beforehand before going in.
