Sports Authority Field at Mile High is the major sports venue in the city, but Mile High is the only part of the football stadium's name that's stayed consistent during its history. The previous football arena was known simply as Mile High Stadium, and when a new facility was built in 2001, gridiron fans across the city lobbied to keep the old name for the new stadium. Corporate interests won out, and it was dubbed Invesco Field -- but at least they were smart enough to keep part of the old name in a nod at the end: Invesco Field at Mile High. In 2011, Sports Authority claimed the right to name the field, and kept the Mile High part. A few other notable stadium consistencies: The Broncos still play here, and there's still a contrasting bar of seats around the stadium to show you exactly where the mile marker works its magic.
