Description

Ilusiones is a nightclub that embraces a very specific niche: '80s salsa music. The 20-year-old venue features blood-red walls lined with posters of Latin performers who have graced its stage and glass cases that house traditional salsa instruments. Open Friday and Saturday nights, 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., the club usually features a DJ spinning Willie Gonzalez and other salsa romantica crooners and a dance floor packed with local Cubans stepping, spinning, and dipping the night away. On special Friday nights, though, a live mariachi band or performers such as Venezuelan star Alejandro Palacio entertain with a live show.
