Colorado is known for its homegrown big-burrito chains. Illegal Pete's isn't the largest, but it's big on flavor, with a wide-ranging menu that includes everything from the standard chicken- and carnitas-based burritos to versions with fish or potatoes as the main event. The ingredients are all carefully balanced before the burrito is wrapped, ensuring that you won't get any bites of just rice or only sour cream. The casual atmosphere might lure you into sticking around for one more beer; it's no surprise that each and every Illegal Pete's outpost is a favorite hangout for somebody. Who put the beat in your burrito? Illegal Pete's did. Which tables get moved to cram the DJs into this glass-fronted LoDo Chipotle-with-a-bar? Better yet, how do you dance without spilling your -- or your neighbor's -- salsa? Follow the smell of fat burritos or the sound of phatter tracks to find out.

There are few more pleasant ways to give back to the community than drinking while doing so -- which makes Illegal Pete's latest charity venture both sweet and savvy. The restaurant chain recently launched a series of collectible beer glasses dedicated to noteworthy (and Illegal Pete's-friendly) bands on the Denver scene, with local dance-punk outfit the Photo Atlas the first on its roster. For just $10, music/beer lovers can purchase a band-designed glass filled with Colorado brew... More »
The Illegal Pete's outlet on the 16th Street Mall has long been Denver's unofficial punk-rock burrito epicenter, but this year the restaurant made it official with two outreach efforts: The Starving Artists Program feeds out-of-town bands here on tour, and the Eat and Greets sponsored by Suburban Home are a direct byproduct of that program. After all, if visiting bands are going to stop by Illegal Pete's for some free food anyway, it only makes sense to invite fans down to meet the musicians... More »

They have the best fish burrito! I know it might sounds a little strange, but it's awesome! Make sure to add some sour cream and green salsa! My mouth is watering writing about it!
