Translated into English, "i Fratelli" means "the brothers," which is what this Italian-American eatery is all about. Originally founded in 1987 in Irving by the four Cole brothers, George, David, Mike and Darrell, the restaurant features many menu items made in-house. The fresh-made dough lays the foundation for the snappy thin-crust pizzas, like the signature Big Brother (pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, bell pepper and green onion). Some dishes stray from the traditional fare. Exemplars include the house specialty pesce soffocato (grilled redfish filet with crawfish tails, shrimp and a piquant cream sauce). Many of the selections-even the pizzas-have wine-pairing suggestions listed next to them to be enjoyed in a setting of aged brick and wood with a granite bar.
