Owners Lorella Innocenti and John Brennan opened this Tuscan trattoria back in 1999, looking to recreate the homestyle cooking Innocenti grew up eating in Pistoia, Italy. Pastas, like the potato gnocchi with crab meat and the beef-filled tortellini, are made in-house. The entrees are hearty affairs; think grilled rack of lamb with Brussels sprouts, prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast and a tomato-based stew filled with cod, octopus, squid, clams and mussels. Pizzas are cooked in the brick oven and come topped with everything from artichokes to prosciutto. A huge variety of Italian wines are stored down in the restaurant's wine cellar, with most bottles originating from the Tuscany region. Come in on the first Monday of every month for tastings that explore different types of Italian wines. In warm weather windows open the entire front of the restaurant to the street, letting the breeze into a dining room decorated with a huge painted mural of Tuscany.—Keith Wagstaff
