Description

Who says all the quality nightclubs can only be found in Scottsdale? Certainly not the patrons of Hurricane Bay, who can be found poppin' bottles at this posh West Valley party parlor and beach bar five nights a week. Its amenities are similarly as swanky -- ranging from classy cabanas draped with sheer silk to plush leather seating -- and offer something for everyone. Wanna get hammered on high-end libations? Premium cocktails and alcoholic concoctions are available via the attractive bar staff. Or if you're just looking to let loose, bump some humps on multiple dance floors (including one that's illuminated with a rainbow of colors) while top notch DJs spinning Top 40, hip-hop and R&B make it easy enough to shake your groove thing. And for those hoping to impress members of the opposite sex -- or embarrass themselves, depending on their singing skills -- you can always visit the adjacent Rock Star Bar room for some karaoke fun. Of course, nothing impresses quite like getting personal bottle service for you and the date. Just like in Old Town, however, expect to open the wallet for the VIP treatment.

The 10,000-square-foot space was renovated earlier this year with such femme-friendly additions as plush padded seats and a sleek new wooden bar inlaid with pretty seashells. Of course,... More »

  • 2005 | BEST FAKE VOLCANO

Standing nine feet tall, weighing in at five hundred pounds, this enormous monstrosity can put any bar mascot to shame. Set at the entrance of Hurricane Bay in north Phoenix, a giant replica of a volcano inspired by Mount Wannahockaloogy from the Disney movie Finding Nemo transports patrons directly to the Islands. Complete with a waterfall and smoke billowing from the top, the nameless sculpture overlooks a dance floor lighted in turquoise, and a grass-skirted bar, and can be seen from... More »
