The lively atmosphere and great food easily make up for Huong Binh's undistinguished interior (the most notable feature is an "I Love You" poster). Here, there's a primal, playing-with-your-food joy to mixing up each bite of vermicelli with herbs and sweet sauces. Huong Binh's Central Vietnamese focus means that you should look to its rice plates, spicy beef-noodle soup, and the banh uot, slippery rice crepes served with skewered meats (try the pork meatballs and the caramelized barbecued pork). On weekends, Vietnamese diners make pilgrimages to Huong Binh for bun mang vit, a gingery noodle soup with roast-duck salad on the side. If that's not enough, the management sells candies and homemade preserves outside on the sidewalk.
