Houston Press' Description

This is one of the few restaurants in Houston that offers large portions of authentic Thai cooking, a relaxing ambience and a fairly extensive wine list. Plus, its second-story location gives the effect of dining in a tree house. The kitchen shows some creativity, using basil, pineapple, wine and garlic along with the traditional fiery Thai curries and chilies. A good-value buffet is arrayed at lunch, but of course the best dishes (such as crab cakes, green chicken curry, crusted ginger sesame beef and drunken chicken) must be ordered à la carte.

They make nice tom yum goong, summer rolls and I like their red curry. I've always gotten it as take out - I don't usually eat there. Overall good Thai food that's reasonably priced and convenient.

Tips from foursquare

Thai spice has the best soups (Tom Yum). Their hot sake isn't too bad either. Good food and great outdoor, upper deck seating- good idea on a nice day with nice weather.

Not so good for dinner... Thai Cottage is much better

  • Scott F. on 02/03/14

The buffet on weekdays usually has over ten main dishes, two soups, and a large amount if cold items. It's a great deal!

  • Marc S. on 12/07/13

    Ask for extra hot spices

Always a fan since 10 yrs back!
