Houston Press' Description
Pizzeria Solario has everything going for it: A vera pizza Napoletana oven and red sauce that follow the guidelines set by Neapolitan pizza makers. Super-fresh ingredients. A great location in Upper Kirby. And yet there's something lacking at this modern little pizza shop. The servers don't quite seem to have their act together, even nine months after opening, and the non-pizza offerings are hit-or-miss. Certain pizzas on the menu, such as the Parma 600 and the Calabrian, are among the best in Houston, right up there with the top-notch creations available at Dolce Vita and Pizaro's. But others fall flat because of a lack of balance in the ingredients or longer-than-usual wait times. Once these lesser pies at Pizzeria Solario are slightly tweaked and the rest of the menu improves, there's no doubt the authentic shop will be a staple of Houston's pizza scene.
