Description

Houston Press' Description

This is one of the Houston Chinese community's favorite dim sum destinations. A crowd of nearly a thousand isn't uncommon on Saturdays and Sundays in the upstairs ballroom. Luckily, a big crowd is a good sign when you're eating dim sum - it means the food turns over fast, so everything stays hot and fresh. But the downstairs dining room where Ocean Palace serves dim sum on weekday afternoons (and seafood at dinnertime) is actually much more attractive.

Observe the restaurant's spelling of "palace" on their teapots and plates. Must have been made in China. ;)

Best dim sum in Houston. Go on the weekend for best variety and freshness. As good as the average dim sum in LA or SF.

Terrific pork tripe at the specialty counter. Yum!!!

Only so so "chicken butt buns". Acceptable if you're too lazy to go to one if the many nearby bakeries.
