New York Bagel & Coffee Shop
Houston, TX 77096
Houston Press' Description
This place has it all: Manhattan ambience, great bagels and a dainty Reuben, too. Unlike the open-faced monstrosities served at many delis, you can actually pick up the Reuben at New York Bagel & Coffee Shop and eat it with your hands. But the best noontime meal is something called a Triple Salad Plate. It's a scoop of tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad or chopped liver along with tomatoes, onions and lettuce with a toasted bagel. The chopped liver is terrific, and the bagels, fresh from the bakery next door, are sensational. Grab a dozen from the Meyerland location to take home.
Tips from foursquare
2010 Best of Houston® Winner: Best Jewish Deli: Drop in for great pancakes and latkes in the morning, and come back for the sandwiches in the afternoon.
Order the homefries and ask for them crispy!
Like a cheaper / diner version of Kenny and Ziggy's (Post Oak Blvd) but cheaper and not gigantic portions. Bagels are 2nd to the Hot Bagel Shop (Shepherd) but the lox here is much better. Great Svc.
Best bagels around town. No joke.
