Description

Houston Press' Description

So many flavors, so little summer to try them all. Mam's House of Ice serves New Orleans style snoballs - that is, shaved ice, not the chunkier stuff found elsewhere. With one picnic table, a small trailer where the snoballs are made and a big and mostly empty lot, this place can cater to crowds without worrying about the details like seating and air conditioning. Their hours vary according to the weather. You can find their opening times, closing status and other pertinent information on their facebook and twitter feeds, if you're not sure. In addition to all the traditional snow cone flavors (and some more interesting varieties, like pickle juice and Cajun red hot), you can add whipped cream, condensed milk and marshmallow fluff to your icy treat. Dogs can get a canine version (ice and chicken stock) for a buck.
