Houston Press' Description

The upscale sister to the Heights's Liberty Kitchen and Oyster Bar is still trying to find its niche among Houston's great restaurants, but the problem is that it's trying to be a little bit of everything all at once. Tacos? Check. Sushi? Check. Fried chicken, gumbo, steak and seafood? Yes, those are all on the menu as well. If Liberty Kitchen and Oysterette were succeeding in every culinary endeavor, the high prices might be worth paying, but as it is, the latest venture from the folks behind BRC Gastropub and Petite Sweets is simply very pretty without much substance. The gumbo and deviled eggs (and those rich, creamy milkshakes made with Petite Sweet custard) are as delicious as ever, but there's nothing that sets this apart from the other Liberty Kitchen as being the more sophisticated eatery, aside from more sophisticated prices.
