Lawndale Art Center

Map & Directions 4912 Main St.
Houston, TX 77002

Houston Press' Description

Lawndale Art Center, located in Midtown near the Museum District, is best know for its annual juried Big Show, when artists submit work for a chance to be seen in the gallery by hordes of hip, wine- and beer-sipping Houstonians. But Lawndale gets up to plenty of other things involving contemporary art produced by regional artists. Four galleries, three studios and an outdoor sculpture garden (which is decidedly more avant garde than the more traditional garden at the MFAH) means there's always something going on, event- or exhibit-wise. Check the website for schedules.
