Houston Press' Description

A little slice of Philly on Chimney Rock, this is a good spot for watching Eagles games and eating cheese steaks. Jake's No. 1 is served with onions and provolone. Cheez Whiz is 50 cents extra. Maybe you're cool enough to insist on the original version of the Philly cheese steak made with authentic Cheez Whiz, and maybe you aren't. But you gotta applaud Jake's Philly Steaks for preserving the sandwich's proud traditions.

Tips from foursquare

Watch any game. Comcast? DirectTV? They have both. Go Rockets!

  • Ces W. on 08/25/12

Being from Philly, Jake's reminds me of home!!

  • Addison T. on 03/14/10

Go to Jake's. Order a large philly steak with cheese whiz and extra onions. Draft beer and darts to top it off. Just avoid NFL season. Eagles fans come out of the woodwork.
