Description

Houston Press' Description

Griff's, a very neighborhood-oriented sports bar, serves standard, artery-clogging bar food all day up until closing time. The interior is comfortable and worn - read: this falls on the dive side of the dive-fancy spectrum, in a good way - and the patio is spacious. Friday and Saturday nights bring dollar Lone Stars and a DJ-fueled party atmosphere, but most other times you can enjoy a reasonably peaceful bite in a 45-year-old bar. Tuesday is steak night and Wednesday brings pork chops, both for around ten bucks.

Tips from foursquare

Lone Star is king here! $1.75 during happy hour and only $1 on Friday nights. And ladies, try the Lone Star Light, it's great.

  • Sarah M. on 12/02/10

Yeah it's not the cleanest, but shove your purel! Griffs is one of my favorite dives and the staff and the bar food are great!

  • Craigs's Happy Hour on 08/07/10

    Bring some Purell.

  • Daniel M. on 07/20/10

Tuesdays are $12 steak night. Comes with a baked potato and domestic beer. Good value and a damn good steak.

  • Anthony B. on 04/05/10

$1 Lonestars on Friday nights, DJs on the weekends, and the friendliest clientele around!
