Houston Press' Description
Since 1977, Jim Goode's shrine to smokedom has practiced the art of cooking over mesquite. Big slabs of smoked brisket, ribs, homemade sausage and other meats like chicken, turkey, duck and ham are always at the ready, as are some mean beans and, of course, some of the best jalapeño cheese bread and pecan pie around.
Tips from foursquare
This is a true Texan BBQ place. I love the way it smells as soon as you get out of your car. The dark pannel walls, the massive menu's on the wall - it's what BBQ joints are supposed to be like.

Brisket is the bomb! Not much meat on the ribs. Tasty BBQ sauce. My fave Houston BBQ spot & love sitting on the patio listening to the Country oldies on a sunny day!
The brisket here has great texture, but flavor isn't strong or deep. The sauce is downright awful -- tastes like spicy ketchup. Austin baked beans are overpowered with spices and strange ingredients.
You’re in a WiMAX hotspot – be sure to lick your fingers before jumping online to tell your friends about the finger-licking bbq at Goode Company!
