El Matador Bar & Grill
Houston, TX 77077
Houston Press' Description
With a strangely uncolorful décor straight out of the '70s, this place could do with an update, although the food is remarkably solid. Large portions of Tex-Mex at cheap prices are the order of the day here, served up to an almost exclusively older, Anglo crowd. The dip El Matador (queso with fajita meat) is sure to please. Some authentic Mexican dishes, like mole and alambres (kebabs), can also be found on the extensive menu, as can many seafood dishes, like the wonderful filet norteño (red snapper topped with shrimp, spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes).
Tips from foursquare
They make some bad ass margaritas from scratch. But hit up happy hour cause their $9 after.
Great times here, going through management changes and it is improving on a daily basis. The new manager is Andrea and tell her Jere sent you! See what happens.
Fun after 10 when the DJ comes in...great Margaritas!
The jereritas re great. Otherwise blase menu and taco bell is the same foodwise. No major fod specials and nothing noteworthy.
Next time I want incompetent people making my drinks I'll make sure I come here. Over priced drinks that taste like shit never ever coming here
