David Addickes Sculpturworx Warehouse
Houston, TX 77007
Houston Press' Description
Some hoity-toity critics contend that David Adickes's sculptures -- which include the enormous statue of Sam Houston set along Interstate 45 -- are more roadside kitsch than art. Love him or loathe him, the parking lot to his studio represents the city's best, and most surreal, public arts project (in progress). Amid warehouses and rail lines, with the downtown skyline as its backdrop, the lot has contained the heads of dozens of former presidents, as well as 36-foot-tall renderings of some musical group called the Beatles. Got family or friend in town? Might as well swing by one the most stalwart examples of Houston's oddness.

To the right of the main gate there is a smaller side gate and path (overgrown with foliage) that leads to inside the yard -the sculptures are rad to see up close all together, some neat oddities too
