Description

Houston Press' Description

Drawing an Upper Kirby lunch and dinner crowd, Café Red Onion is careful to stress that it is not a Tex-Mex restaurant. Instead, it turns out a "Latin fusion" menu sprinkled with Caribbean influences. Familiar items such as quesadillas are available, along with chicken and seafood dishes, enchiladas, fajitas and empanadas. A moderately priced wine list and specialty margaritas comprise the main booze selections. A private banquet room is available, with separate menus offered for special occasion parties.

    Try their awesome mojito's!

  • Melody L. on 11/19/09

Go to Cafe Red Onion and get the Chicken Brazil and a Tres Leches for dessert. Don't forget to try the pineapple salsa!

  • Whitney H. on 01/07/12

Waiter Joey R. wouldn't allow us to split our check. Then said we wouldn't get all our change back if he did. He then told us we had to pay in cash and wouldnt give change after adding gratuity.

  • It's noche Latina for me. Get the Caribbean Broil: 6 oz. of lean steak smothered with a delicious sweet sauce. Pineapple salsa for ur chips!

Few "fusion" restaurants really deliver on successfully mixing up different styles of food. Cafe Red Onion does so and at a reasonable price too.
