888 Chinese Restaurant
Houston, TX 77087
Houston Press' Description
888 is a big square room with booths down both sides, tables in the middle and two television sets high on the wall at one end. The clientele includes a lot of Mexican-Americans, and the menu includes some Chinese-Mexican combos like whole mojarra with shrimp fried rice. The mango chicken in garlic sauce is easily the best thing on the menu. It's a tropical-tasting dish that seems only vaguely Chinese.
Tips from foursquare
The House Lo Mein is a mix of all their noodles & is a great value. The Spicy Seafood Soup is just that, tons of seafood & lots of pepper / chile.
The spicy shrimp soup is ridiculously good and the Special House Lo Mein is always tasty! Lunch is always packed so get there early.
Soups start at $1.50 and the dumplings are $4.75. The eggplant is perfect with rice, as is anything that comes out in their clay pots. Try something different every time you go.
The Singapore Noodles are to die for! Yum
Impressive cuisine, but watch yourself with the Sichuan dishes - the high degree of spiciness may catch you off guard.
