This Cajun restaurant located inside a punk dive bar turns out food to rival and sometimes surpass our city's many new, fancified Southern restaurants-and it has the added advantage of being cheap. Find the ordering counter to the right as you enter, and grab an Abita on draft while you wait for your food. Go for the O.G.--a take on the original potato po' boy, an astoundingly tasty, caloric gutbomb of a sandwich stuffed with mayo-ed French fries and drowned in beef gravy. For a less intense experience, try one of the excellently fried seafood po' boys. Skip the smoked tofu jambalaya and go for the andouille sausage and chicken version instead, in which all the flavors stand out in sharp relief. Don't forget fried-to-order beignets, which will leave you happily covered in powdered sugar.
