People who've lived here a long time remember when this little Cotswold cottage was the home of the Willo House, and many of us were sad to see that long-time favorite lunch spot go away. That is, until we stopped in to eyeball the warm, friendly, and chic breakfast-and-lunch café that took its place. Now we can't stay away-especially at breakfast time, when we usually go for the steel-cut oats with honey and hot milk, or the tasty cheese-and-broccoli quiche, straight out of the deli case. There are sweets in that case, too, and we can never resist them. The peanut butter cookies are to die, but first (if we're dining mid-day) we go straight for the soup of the day, always made fresh and full of locally grown ingredients (if you're lucky, it's the gumbo, although the chicken noodle is also really good). Take away a bag of fresh-baked blueberry scones, and make a note to head back to hob nob some more, pronto!
We go there every Sunday morning, for a bunch of different reasons: We love the massive remodel of the place, which turned the former hippie-dippy Willo House into a sleek-but-still-cozy coffee shop that feels like someone's well-appointed home. We're crazy about the quiche and the tasty baked goods and the private rooms where we can drag a group of friends for a quick, caffeine-fueled wake-up party. Did we mention how good the coffee is?
