Description
You'd think a Ballard hole-in-the-wall operated by a pair of local rock warriors would be drenched in urine, Pabst, and Evan Williams whiskey. But with Hazlewood, which counts ex-Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd and bassist-about-town Drew Church among its quartet of owners, you'd be dead wrong. With chandeliers, a velvety balcony, premium champagne, and a delectable ginger-Maker's specialty drink, the pair has created, as Hattie's Hat alum Church puts it, "an old-timey, turn-of-the-century type of place where we could imagine Vincent Price and Lee Hazlewood hanging out." They've succeeded, but not at the expense of enticing a diverse crowd with nightly spins from guest DJs procured by nearby Sonic Boom Records.
