If consistency is your thing, you’re probably going to like Hattie’s. The Bishop Arts District Restaurant with a Southern menu has been cooking up shrimp and grits in Oak Cliff for 20 years now and not a whole lot has changed since it first opened. The dining room is white, bright and full of light, and the staff that fills the place is always polite and professional. When Hattie’s first opened, it was a big enough draw to get Park Cities diners to venture across the dinner to dine. Two decades later, the restaurant is still a Dallas favorite.

I love Hatties food, the decor and the staff. The pecan encrusted catfish is the best any where and just try the mac and cheese!
Love this place. I hear good things about their dessert so my next stop will be all about dessert!
Hattie's is one of Oak Cliff's best restaurants, with a clean, inviting interior and a menu full of delicious, upscale Southern comfort food. But it's their occasional brunch special, the chicken and waffles, that keeps us coming back. The giant buttermilk fried chicken breast dozing on the plate-sized Belgian waffle will bring tears to any true Southerner's eye, and the red chile-flecked maple syrup that accompanies it makes the experience even more decadent. So cancel all your Sunday... More »
Sliced in smallish rounds, lightly breaded, served on a sour cream sauce sprinkled with diced chives, these fried green tomatoes offer exactly the right combination of garden freshness with batter-fried flavor. Somehow, in spite of all that preparation, these succulent mouthfuls manage to stay firm at the core. They are a perfect expression of the South--juicy but fried--with a sophisticated Bishop Arts flair. More »
