At the big-ass Hale's Ales Brewery and Pub just off the Burke-Gilman trail in the heart of Frelard, you can view the fermenting room, smell the heady aroma of hops, and then taste the fresh Red Menace Big Amber, Mongoose, and Supergoose IPA, as well as the particularly tasty Hale's Cream Stout, along with a number of other native and seasonal brews. The pub side of the establishment is a good choice if you're looking for a quiet evening out; sandwiches and burgers, salads, hand-tossed pizzas, "pub plates" of crab cakes, beef stew, and fried chicken are all on the menu, and all go nicely with a pint (or an imperial) of their finest.
