Description

At this big-ass brew-pub just off the Burke-Gilman trail in the heart of Frelard, you can view the fermenting room, smell the heady aroma of hops, and then taste the fresh Red Menace Big Amber, Mongoose, and Supergoose IPA, as well as the particularly tasty Hale's Cream Stout, along with a number of other native and seasonal brews. The pub side of the establishment is a good choice if you're looking for a quiet evening out; sandwiches and burgers, salads, hand-tossed pizzas, "pub plates" of crab cakes, beef stew, and fried chicken are all on the menu, and all go nicely with a pint (or an imperial) of their finest.

While the bands oompahed and beer flowed at the Pyramid Alehouse this past Friday and Saturday, I was walking amid thousands of pinked-out ladies at Seattle's Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile hike to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. So bummed ... More »

Maybe I've been grilling too much sausage this summer, maybe I'm just dehydrated, but I've got German beer on the brain. It's just not brats without beer, specifically a beer with an umlaut or two, and it's just not summer without a little yellow ... More »

Draft beer just tastes better. But unless you're a member of a Greek-lettered organization, or willing to invest in a kegorator, enjoying it at home is a pipe dream. May I propose summer's new best friend: the "growler"? A growler is a half-gallon... More »
