This North Hollywood club is sometimes referred to as the place where comics are most likely to get their name spelled wrong. ("Ladies and gentlemen, Damon Waynes!") While the place is a little rundown and the food only average, the comedians are often funny, in an atmosphere that's more welcoming and less pretentious than bigger comedy clubs over the hill in Hollywood. There's a full bar in the small front room, which is festooned with photos of comedians who've played the joint. In the adjoining bigger room, comedians take their best shots at fans who sit too close to the low stage. Speaking of low, the Ha Ha Cafe isn't for the faint of heart, as there is a lot of scatological, racial and sexual humor. While the quality of comedians varies wildly, the club's weekly open-mics nights can often be the best bargain. Street parking. Ages 21 & over.
