Yes, Gulfstream is big, but you'll never be served an entrée that is outweighed by a power garnish-and no heaps-o-chow that scream Claim Jumper, either. Proportions are just right, as is the wine list. Desserts aren't a big deal at Gulfstream, but they make a fabulous hot-fudge sundae with candied pecans.
My wife and I had 8 pm reservations on Friday, 02Nov2012. We arrived early (630 pm) and enjoyed cigars on the outdoor bar/patio. Both barmaids ignored us until 7pm, when Nikki the hostess found us and asked if we wished to be seated for dinner. I explained we were still smoking and if she could direct one of the barmaids to take our drink order. Buy 730 pm, still no drinks, the wife was fuming (not from the smoke, hehe) because she used to be a food server and said repeatedly there was no excuse for the inhospitable barmaids. Nikki apologized profusely, and I told her we would be leaving. My wife spoke with the manager, Jeff, who politely listed (but, this is the OC, footstool to the throne of God.) I told him, this is the reason we don't go out in OC, I save my money for Sin City.

Of course, by whales, we respectfully mean heavyweights—you know, power brokers, fellas driving black Hummers and looking for admirers, usually female. If you're lucky, like Orange County Register columnist Mickadeit, the big boys might even allow you to overhear their impressive tales of power and profit and wallow in secondhand stogy smoke.
Good dinner menu!
In this moneyed paradise, where Orange County GOP leaders light up cigars every Friday afternoon and society ladies get a quick salad before picking up their daughters from the Mexican nannies, getting a quick lay is surprisingly easy--even easier than the cattle-call known as the Quiet Woman. At Gulfstream, you'll find cougars, gold-diggers, porn stars and a bevy of horny men looking for a little comfort. Only catch: You gotta have at least six figures to hook up with these honeys. And... Photo by Jessica Calkins Her eyelids had the iridescent hue and slow flutter of a Blue Morpho butterfly's wings. And few could look as good in the tight dress to match. I told her so. "Thanks—it's Vivienne Tam," she offered. We met while waiting... More »
