Description

While most other vendors on the local mobile food scene specialize in concise menus featuring a few signature items, bright-yellow Grillmaster Cafe takes the opposite track. With a menu offering dozens of dishes, this is paradise for the indecisive. The focus here is on savory, often fried, carnival-esque fare, so weight-watchers would do best to look elsewhere. For the uninhibited, though, main dishes represent a very Miami cross-section of street food staples with a Latin twist. There is a signature master burger ($5.75), an eight-ounce whopper topped with mozzarella cheese, crisp onions, and a special sauce. Dueling for attention, though, is a classic Cuban frita, with sweet-spicy seasoned meat, a pillowy-crisp bun, and requisite crisp shoestring potatoes ($4.75). Philly cheese steak ($6.50), exploding with moist shredded beef, is another nod to the good ol' U.S.A., while pinchos of steak or chicken ($5) and a straightforward Cuban sandwich ($4.75) are another tribute to Latinidad. Sides abound, but they don't get any lighter. Try a ham croqueta for a measly 60 cents or "Idaho fries" with cheese and bacon ($3.75). The kid in you (or just kids) will also appreciate newly added potato sticks (two for $5), each of which features an entire spiral-cut, French-fried spud on a handy skewer. If that's not enough, you can top off a meal with a thick shake in classic Latin flavors such as mamey, banana, or mango ($3.50). Need candy or even cigarettes? Grill Master has got you covered there too. It's a shame it doesn't make house calls.

A few of my favorite dishes from @grillmastercafe are Mojito Wrap (containing white rice, black beans, steak, platanito maduros ), the Master Burger, and of course the funnel cakes (I like mine loaded with strawberries & whipped cream!!)
