Description

At this mellow neighborhood joint in the middle of punkish St. Marks, you can pet the friendly bar dog or cat before ordering a pint. Walk past the guy whoas been sitting at the bar since 1984, and put some Stones on the jukebox to liven things up. Then grab a basket of $1 popcorn to stave of hunger. These guys also serve up pitchers.

    This is by far the best bar in the East Village. My friends and coworkers and I religiously went to Grassroots because the staff is great, and it's a perfect slice of NYC life. Cheap beer and good people!
