Blend with the classy and classic patrons at the beautiful bar, or eavesdrop on conversations that rival 1940s movie scripts while sipping a delicious cocktail. This would be a great place to take anyone who wonders why you live in NYC, just make sure to hide the bill at the end of your evening. The food is excellent too, but you must reserve to even think about getting a table.

Gramercy Tavern is the first place I go when I'm in NYC. I know I worked there, but it's been a long time. They still treat me like it was just yesterday that I left. It is by far, hands-down the BEST service I've ever had in my life.
Their steak is phenomenal – the perfect steak. It is perfectly seasoned and juicy. It is out of this world. They also have a great cheese plate that is a really good mix of cheeses.
My favorite place in NYC - maybe anywhere. Service is top notch. I have never had anything here I did not like in probably 15 visits.
The offerings of the GRAMERCY TAVERN are legendary, and there's always a wait for reservations, so the cognoscenti head for the first-come, first-seated, no-reservations lunch in the tavern section of the restaurant, where the fortunate snag a table in the window. The menu changes constantly, but offerings like a vegetable sandwich that plays on the meatiness of a portobello mushroom will delight your taste buds and won't put too big a crimp in your wallet.
