The shack across the street from the Staten Island Ferry terminal offers excellent views of the downtown Manhattan skyline--but no seating, so be prepared to gobble on the run, or, even better, bring your carryout to the well-appointed new ferry terminal. Gourmet Dog is given to making dramatic gestures when it comes to its raw materials--sometimes, two dogs get stuck in one bun, or on one hero roll, lavished with things like swiss cheese, A-1 sauce, sauerkraut, and even potato chips. And the burgers are even stranger, including the signature production, the Warrior: a half-pound burger cooked, chopped up, piled on a hero roll with melted American slices and French fries. Gutbomb!
