While the baked goods look (and taste) like they have been sitting around for a while, the savory food at this Jamaican bakery is delicious. The long menu includes cow's foot soup, oxtail, curry goat, escovitch fish, beef patties and rotis with various fillings. Whatever else you try, order the roti with callaloo (a green) and salt cod. The callaloo is stewed down to soft sweetness along with buttery, salty lumps of salt cod, and wrapped with a warm, chewy roti. Also worth ordering is the curry goat, sauced with a thick, densely spiced gravy that tastes of garlic, Scotch bonnet, allspice and ginger. The addition of turmeric turns the droplets of oil dotting the surface of the curry bright yellow.
